Vertical Trades

Tasks move quickly on the jobsite and any barrier to access costs valuable time and money. Matcon gets to the tough work first so your remaining subcontractors and trades can complete their jobs safely, efficiently, and on budget.

Interior floor slab saw

For precision horizontal floor cuts our technicians utilize 40hp exhaust-free 480V 3-Phase electric slab saws. These walk-behind units use a diamond blade wet cutting process to get through the toughest reinforced concrete and aggregate slabs up to a depth of 18 inch with cut widths up to 1/4 inch.

Common Applications: renovations to concrete or asphalt floors; new trench cuts for mechanical, electric, or plumbing lines; access cuts to existing utility lines; installations needing a lowered foundation; piano key cuts for ease of removal; impact-free selective demolition cuts

Track-Mounted wall saw

Construction, renovation, and selective demolition projects require the diverse capabilities of our 30hp hydraulic and 480V 3-Phase electric track-mounted wall saws. Using a diamond blade wet cutting process, these saws produce horizontal and vertical precision cuts up to 36 inches deep at 1/4 inch wide. The remote-control feature of these saws adds an extra element of safety to the operator, as well.

Common Applications: interior/exterior doorway and window openings; selective demolition and complete demo prep; bridge abutment and ramp wall cuts; access cuts for HVAC and utility line installation

Core drill

The applicable uses of core drilling are vast but mainly revolve around providing vertical, horizontal, or angled access through walls, floors, and ceilings. 220V units are capable of hole diameters up to 24 inches at 12 inch depths while hydraulic units allow up to 72 inch diameter cuts at unlimited depths using 18 inch extension bits.

Common Applications: removal of concrete foundation anchors; rerouting plumbing/electrical lines; HVAC installation; creating pockets for anchors and post-tension tendons; extraction of core samples for testing; selective demolition and complete demo prep

wire saw

When versatility is needed the capabilities of a wire saw are ideal. Using a wet cutting process, these 1/2 inch thick diamond-impregnated wires will cut cleanly through just about any material with minimal damage to surroundings.  Powered by hydraulic and 30hp 480V 3-Phase electric units, this process is exhaust-free and adjustable to unlimited depths.

Common Applications: substantially thick portions of concrete; flush cut removal of concrete platforms; sectional removal cuts to piers (under and above waterline); cuts through dissimilar materials under compression; selective demolition and complete demo prep

Quickie saws & Chainsaws

While the slab, wall, and wire saws complete the big jobs, there are always cuts requiring a more detailed finish from our concrete chainsaws and radial hand saws. These two work hand-in-hand to go where other saws cannot and finish the job with a personal touch.

Common Applications: completing wall saw cuts where overcutting is undesirable; horizontal/vertical finishing cuts; deep plunge cuts with small working surface area; uneven surfaces unable to take a track-mounted wall saw; selective demolition and complete demo prep

Chainsaw Specs: hydraulic and 480V 3-Phase electric; exhaust-free; max 28 inch plunge depth; 1/4 inch cut width
Hand Saw Specs: hydraulic and 480V 3-Phase electric; exhaust-free; max 9 inch depth; 1/4 inch cut width

Isolated Demolition

Using our slab saws, core drill bits, wire saws, and track-mounted wall saws we can prepare a jobsite for complete demolition or selectively cut for non-destructive, isolated demolition while protecting the remaining structure. Our 480V 3-Phase DXR unit brings a 27kW power output to confined areas and its remote-control feature has made the jobsite safer for the operator. Outfitted with an articulating arm, this robotic unit offers an 18 foot vertical reach and packs a mean punch with an assortment of breaker, crusher, and bucket tools.

Common Applications: decommissioned power plant towers; building expansion projects; bridge/ramp replacements; industrial facilities being outfitted for new businesses; robotic demolition use in unsafe and isolated working conditions

Containment & Disposal

After concrete is cut, broken, or drilled, debris is produced ranging from large fragments to fine dust. The wet cutting process used in many applications also yields concrete slurry. Once any job is complete, owner agencies will require worksites be returned to a satisfactory state in compliance with safety and environmental regulations.

We offer the supplemental services of containment and disposal for the debris and slurry we've created on your project. This can be accomplished through simple means such as sweeping and vacuuming the area. For larger projects this could mean loading multiple dump trucks with large slabs of concrete, scrap rebar, and mixed debris for disposal at a C&D landfill.
